Knox Prep Year 6 students have showcased their research, critical thinking and problem solving skills as part of their 'Tinkering Towards Tomorrow' unit of work.
Each boy researched and produced their own 'National Geographic' magazine based on a natural disaster of their choice. This included a section on scientific research, the impacts of the disaster (economic, social, environmental) and a critical analysis of what system is currently used to detect and warn communities at risk of this disaster.
The students were then tasked with the goal of following a 'design thinking' process to develop an improved prototype version of the detection/warning system using their new MicroBit kits. It's been an incredible learning experience for the boys and teachers.
