Our aim is to provide flexible, open communication between the School, parents and boys. We want boys to have as much of a 'home experience' as possible and we'd like parents to be able to share their son’s school academic, sporting, co-curricular and personal experiences as much as possible.
The Head of House is always available for parents to call, as is the House Manager (House Mum).
Each term the School sends out several boarding newsletters which contain articles and photos of boarders, boarding events and boarding life.
Parents are always welcome to visit, dine with the boys or take their son out for the evening.
Knox maintains a flexible approach to leave, provided it is arranged around sporting and co-curricular commitments. Leave must be arranged in advance in consultation with the Head of House. Many boarders regularly stay with day boy families on weekends.
All boarders are invited to join the Boarder Support Program, which partners new boarder families with day boy Knox families.
We usually try to pair day boys and boarders who are in the same year group who have similar interests. The city families host the boarder for occasional weekend visits and home cooked meals. We find the boys that participate in this program are friends for life.
Some of our city boys even get invitations to spend their holidays in the country!
The Boarder Parents' Supporters Group aims to foster friendship between boarder families and to enhance the boarding experience for both the parents and students. It recognises that boarders come from many contexts and localities and celebrates this diversity through regular events and functions. All Knox boarder families are automatically members of the Boarder Parents' Supporters Group and are welcome to attend any of their meetings and participate in any activity, function or event run by the group.
The Boarder Parents' Supporters Group meets once a term, usually at the start or end of term, when it is likely that more parents can attend. In partnership with the Knox Parents' Association, the group also provides equipment such as furniture or entertainment items to enhance the lives of all boarders.
